I killed a man.
It was self defense.
Trial starts in a week.
I'm Nigerian.
This is my story.
********************************
My life has been but a movie in the past couple of weeks. I started the new year 2017 like every other typical human, with bright hopes that the new year would be better than the last, and that my catering business definitely would reach its height. It wasn't easy at the beginning but gradually, things began to fall in place thanks to goodwill. Just a few days before the whole incidence, I was supposed to start working on my fifth wedding cake in the year which was due that weekend.
I just got off the phone with my lawyer. We meet again tomorrow. I'm supposed to be able to sleep in peace, partly because I'm innocent and partly because my lawyer's one of the best in the country. But I'm having issues sleeping. What if I end up in jail for the rest of my life? What if the other party wins and I get a death penalty? Barrister Akinoso says not to worry but that sounds extremely impossible because my life is just starting.
I have trainees that look up to me. My niece looks up to me. My parents are left with just one child after we lost my sister two years ago to child birth. I don't have a lot of friends but I can't imagine the few ones I have living without me.
But then again, worrying doesn't do so much good. So I'll let this pen down, and try to get some sleep. I have a very long day tomorrow.
